Designed by renowned architect Robert Trent Jones Jr, Club de Golf Alcanada’s 18-hole course opened in 2003. Situated in the northern part of the Mediterranean island of Mallorca, Alcanada is located right by the sea and the 6,499-metre lay-out blends naturally into the typical Mallorcan landscape. The club takes its name from a nearby island just off the shore which, complete with its own lighthouse, can be seen from most of the holes. Apart from the splendid sea view, players are surrounded by pine and olive groves throughout their round and, even though a young course, Alcanada is already recognised by a number of well known golf magazines and golf guides as one of the finest courses in Spain and Europe — including being named the best course in Europe by leading German magazine Golf Journal for the fourth year in a row in 2012.

Pretty happy with this course - the condition is good. There are some really great holes here, particularly the ones by the sea but there are some scrappy holes which seem a bit squeezed in between holiday homes or wasteland.

My third round here and I like this course a lot and there is a really good club atmosphere with a decent combination of friendly members and visitors from several European countries. It is still relatively a young course, opened in 2003 but the feel is one of a mature course of more than thirteen years. The opening hole is very strong, a par-5 with a blind lay-up, so you need to trust your yardage and use the stroke saver well, the approach is then over a stream to the green around 120 yards away. The 2nd and 3rd holes are both very good but maybe a little similar as back to back holes; both are par-4

Great course over some brilliant natural golfing terrain and a terrific opening hole that sets you up well for what is to come. Some lovely holes, framed by the hillside on one edge of the course, and the sea on the other. Thoroughly recommend it if you are in the area.

Played the beautiful Alcanada yesterday and was actually a little dissappointed. This was nearly entirely due to the condition of the greens. Very poor and especially so due to the price of the green fee.The course layout is great and the conditioning of the rest of the course was excellent. A good challenge....... Not too difficult for those like me that dont split fairways. Fantastic surroundings and very enjoyable all in all but For over 100 euros I expect top class greens 😢

I am no fan of RTJ and if you have played a few of the courses he has designed, you will recognise his style straight away. However, could not help to be seduced by the sheer beauty of the site and the intelligent use of the natural terrain; whatever cosmetics were have been applied are subtle, at least to my eye. The first green, however, is crazy. We played with two older members who play the course a lot. They warned us about the risk of going off the green putting aggressively coming down the hole, then proceeded to do exactly that. We both gingerly took three putts to get into the hole. Do not mind that kind of difficulty, but perhaps not on the first hole, so it will be five balls rather than six for me. Already looking forward to the next visit!

For enjoyment best course of Mallorca for sure! As we played the course the 10th of june. Already playing Son Termens, Bendinat and this was our last stop. What a beauty of a course! Views spectacular, greens unreadeble, fairways perfect. From start to end challenging. Restaurant and practise facilities perfect. Tops Son Gual for me. Must play course.

Unfortunately,we did not play Son Gual this trip to say which is the better but Alcanada is first rate in every way - facilities, staff, course, design & conditioning. Highly recommended for challenge, beauty, strategy, variety and despite a recent spate of rain & more rain, was in superb condition.

The rankings tell us this is rated second on the island behind and that is probably correct but I can certainly understand some golfers having them the other way around. Alcanada has a

Great course. Long and tough, but really enjoyed it. The views were spectacular and the whole experience really pleasurable. We had 4 ladies in the group and it was very long for them - there was a 520 metre par 5 for the Ladies. The better golfers scored well though, and we will definitely be back.

Played the course in September and it was immaculate. The course is beautiful and some of the views are breathtaking. The general feel of the place is classy and the helpful staff add to the feel. I hired clubs to play and was surprised at the quality of the equipment. The course itself is very up and down and if the heat is in the 30's it makes it a little tough to walk it. I can't think of a hole that I didn't enjoy.A particular favourite was the 7th with an elevated tee that looks over the course and out to the lighthouse on an island in the bay. The greens are tough with plenty of breaks and I defy anyone not to enjoy this course. I will certainly go back. Its well worth the trip. The restaurant is also excellent.

I played this course last Monday, just one week ago. It started as a sunny day but on 6th the wind changed and it turned into a clowdy windy typical links day, so even I took some good pictures some of the beauty could be more appreciated on sunny moments. The course is located in an amazing pice of land and RTJ jr has done a great job creating a fantastic, playable and challenging at the same time golf course: 2 reachable par 5s and to over 600yds, some short par 4s (15th and 18th I almost got the green with strong wind helping) and 3 nice par 3s (6th is just average, nothing special). Although heavy rain has been falling on the last 2 months, the course is in excellent condition and the greens roll really fast (10 at the stimpmeter). I played great golf but windy days are not good for 46" putter, it is very tough to putt with long putters on windy days. My 4 over 76 felt like poor, as I missed 4 very short ones for birdie. My favourite hole turned to be 12th, a short par 4 with an elevated green in which if the distance is not accurate, bogey will be the result always.
